Rockstar Games has announced that GTA VI, one of the most anticipated video games in history, will now be released in May 2026, instead of its earlier expected window in late 2025. The news broke quietly, but it didn’t take long for the internet to explode with reactions from fans around the world.
According to Rockstar, the delay is all about making sure the final product lives up to expectations. And let’s be honest fans waited this long for the game now they have to wait a bit longer before the game releases. The first trailer, which dropped in December 2023, already set a record for the most-viewed video game trailer on YouTube in 24 hours.
People seems really frustrated because of the delay. After all, it’s been over a decade since GTA V launched. Memes quickly flooded Twitter and Reddit after the announcement, with players joking that they’ll be retired or have kids in college by the time the game finally arrives.
Not everyone is upset about the delay many of them are happy that its talking time so it becomes more smoother and wont make the same mistake that Cyberpunk 2077 , and said Rockstar is making the right call by taking their time.
Still, the delay puts even more pressure on Rockstar to deliver something truly special. The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by modern-day Florida, and promises a brand-new story, new characters, and all the open-world chaos fans expect.
