Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have officially kicked off production on the next chapter in the Monsterverse , Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. This will be the sixth film in the franchise. This time, it will not be about Kong and Godzilla fighting another monster; it’s the end of the world.
The film picks up after the huge success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which became the highest-grossing entry in the series and the most successful Godzilla movie to date. Naturally, fans are eager to see what comes next.
Director Grant Sputore, known for I Am Mother, is taking the helm, with Dan Stevens returning as Trapper. He’ll be joined by a strong cast, including Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Sam Neill, Matthew Modine, and Delroy Lindo. The screenplay is written by Dave Callaham who previously did Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Shang-Chi and Michael Lloyd Green, so fans can expect a thrilling mix of action, sci-fi, and emotion.
Filming is now underway in Queensland, Australia. While there’s no word yet on who’s handling the visual effects, there’s no doubt the VFX teams will be working hard to deliver the epic destruction fans love.
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. Set to hit theaters on March 26, 2027.
