Netflix has finally released the teaser for the third and final season of Squid Game, and it’s clear that the survival drama has something new in store for us. watch the teaser below.
What is Squid Game About?
Those who don’t know, it is a story of people who fail at life for various reasons but suddenly receive a mysterious invitation to participate in a survival game to win more than $38M. The game takes place on an isolated island, and the participants are locked up until there is a final winner.
The teaser wastes no time setting up the dark tone. It opens with masked guards carrying a familiar black coffin. Inside is none other than Seong Gi-hun (Player 456), played by Lee Jung-jae. Once a desperate participant, Gi-hun is now on a mission to destroy the game from within. After failing to take down the organization in Season 2 and losing a close ally, he’s back this time not for money, but for justice.
One major reveal in the teaser is the introduction of a new game mechanic: a gumball machine that randomly assigns players to different teams.
We also got the return of the mysterious Front Man (In-ho), a past winner turned enforcer who now oversees the chaos. His story will play a key role in the final chapter, especially after his secret infiltration of the rebellion as Player 001. And Detective Hwang Jun-ho is back too, still determined to expose the truth behind the organization controlling the games.
Squid Game season 3 is directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, who previously directed season 1 and season 2, and he has revealed that this season will be the most emotionally intense yet. It will dive deep into the cost of survival and revenge, especially for Gi-hun, whose character arc has gone from gambling addict to reluctant hero.
