Marvel Rivals Season 2: New Heroes & Team-Up Changes

NetEase has finally revealed the details for Marvel Rivals Season 2. This season, titled “Hellfire Gala,” will introduce two new playable heroes, Emma Frost and Ultron, along with major changes to Team-Up abilities, new gameplay features, and fresh content. Watch the trailer below.

Emma Frost will be available at the start of Season 2. She is a Vanguard hero with a mix of telepathic and diamond-based abilities. Her powers allow her to protect teammates with diamond shields while also attacking enemies using mental projections.

Ultron will arrive much later as part of the Season 2.5 mid-season update. NetEase hasn’t shared his abilities yet, but he is expected to be a highly destructive and tech-based character.

Season 2 is inspired by the Marvel’s Hellfire Gala comics, where mutants gather on Krakoa for an annual event. However, in the game’s version, the celebration is interrupted by Ultron and his army, forcing the heroes to fight back.

One of the biggest changes in season 2 is teamwork rework. The existing team will be removed or shuffled so that the new combination allows a fresher approach.

There are a few examples of the new team-ups. It includes Mental Projection, where Emma Frost, Magneto, and Psylocke create illusions on the battlefield to confuse enemies. Arcane Order brings together Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, combining their magic for a powerful attack. Meanwhile, Stars Aligned pairs Captain America with Winter Soldier for rapid counter-attacks in close-quarters combat.

It will introduce several new features beyond hero additions and gameplay tweaks.
Players can do costume gifting which allows them to send skins to friends and skins will be available in new color variations.

Ranked mode will undergo a rank reset, with players dropping nine divisions below their best Season 1.5 placement. Additionally, a new map based on Krakoa will be added, expanding the game’s locations.

NetEase has also announced that starting from Season 3, each season will last two months instead of three. This change means that a new hero will be introduced every month, ensuring a steady flow of fresh content and updates for players.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 is set to launch on April 11, 2025.
