Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be Marvel’s most ambitious group film since Endgame, one major issue remains: Will Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine make the cut?
Jackman, who recently reprised his role in Deadpool and Wolverine, has been at the top of fans’ wish lists for the next multiverse epic. But when asked about it directly during a Thursday interview on The View, the actor avoided the question, neither admitting nor denying his involvement. Watch the interview below.
“I really can’t say much,” Jackman said with a silly smile when pressed by host Sunny Hostin. he added, “Except, when you say ‘appear,’ more like dominate and destroy every other char—I’m kidding! It becomes a one-man show!”
The comment was clearly a joke, but fans have learned to read between the lines when it comes to Marvel secrets. Jackman was quick to follow up with a more serious response, saying, “No, I really have nothing to add. And if I did, I would find a really cool way to not say it, but I actually have nothing to add. So that was uncool. But thanks for asking!”
The actor was on the morning show to promote his upcoming residency, From New York With Love, at Radio City Music Hall. But with Marvel fans eager for any hint about Wolverine’s MCU future, the superhero questions were inevitable.
Marvel recently revealed a jaw-dropping list of returning X-Men stars for Avengers: Doomsday, including Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, James Marsden as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler. So it’s no surprise that speculation about Jackman’s involvement is heating up. Watch the video below
Plus, now that Deadpool & Wolverine officially introduces Jackman’s version of Logan into the MCU, it would make perfect sense for the character to appear again, especially in a film that’s set to push the boundaries of the multiverse; if not in Doomsday, he will surely appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.
