The rumors about Spider-Man 4‘s villain have been circulating on social media for days, with several unexpected names being speculated. However, we now have a clearer picture from a trusted source.
According to The Insneider, Chameleon might be the main villain of the movie. But there’s a twist—a gender swap could be in play, as earlier reports suggested that the primary antagonist would be a woman.
The chameleon was previously seen on kraven the hunter so that may be the reason for the gender swap Fred Hechinger played the villain in Kraven the Hunter. The younger, much weaker brother of Sergei Kravinoff, Dmitri decided to take over his father’s empire after he died and underwent a procedure courtesy of Dr. Miles Warren to become a literal shapeshifter rather than just someone who changes their face with masks or technology.
Who is Chameleon?
Born a Russian citizen named Dmitri Nikolaevich Smerdyakov , Chameleon was the half-brother of Sergei Kravinoff. His parents were Sergei’s father and Sonya Smerdyakova, a servant girl. He was taught to hate himself from his arrival in the Kravinoff family. His father hated the sight of his face and his mother considered him a humiliation. The only member in his family who barely tolerated him was the legitimate son Sergei, who was also abusive towards him. In order to impress Sergei, he entertained him by using his impersonation skills on his neighbors and friends. Dmitri was so deeply scarred that he repressed his very identity and came to believe he had been friends with Sergei.
When he was still a child, Dmitri was approached by a man named Gustav Fiers. Impressed by the boy’s ability to disguise himself, Fiers took him to his brother Karl, also known as the Finisher. Karl took Dmitri under his wing to hone his abilities in a school for the cover arts. Dimitri left the Kravinoff estate without saying goodbye to anyone, even his brother Sergei. Fiers’ academy trained other children to become perfect impersonators and sleeper agents known as Chameleons. The most prized pupil of the Finisher, Dmitri became known as the one and only Chameleon.[15] As the Chameleon, Dmitri relied on his skills and a mixture of costumes and make-up to conceal his identity. He wore a multi-pocket disguise vest in which he kept the materials he would need to mask himself at short notice.
Spider-Man 4: Cast, Crew, and Release Date
Destin Daniel Cretton,who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is set to direct the project. The screenplay will be done by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who previously collaborated on the earlier MCU Spider-Man movies.
