South Park is making its highly anticipated return with Season 27. The first trailer has just dropped, and it promises the same wild, no-holds-barred satire that fans have come to love. Watch the trailer below.
The teaser starts with an unexpected note, showing a live-action footage of an empty swing set and an airplane wing, with the ominous text: “The acclaimed drama returns.” A slowed-down version of Blame Canada—the Oscar-nominated song from South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut—plays in the background, hinting at one of the season’s major storylines.
From the glimpses in the trailer, the upcoming season is packed with chaos. Canadians are seen waving their flags in the middle of what looks like a full-blown war. Elsewhere, Cartman is in a delivery room as a woman gives birth, Kyle is shown sprouting chicken feathers (possibly a nod to bird flu), and the show’s take on Moses from Season 3 makes an appearance. Other over-the-top scenes include overflowing toilets, an entire city on fire, a space-traveling Diddy, and the Statue of Liberty being hauled away by the French using ropes and tugboats.
One moment even shows Butters watching two planes collide near the National Air Traffic Control station, panicking as he blurts out, “Oh crap, we’re all going to get fired.”
The new season arrives after South Park took a break during the 2024 election, a decision that creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone say was intentional. “We’ve done this through four or five presidential elections, and it just becomes overwhelming. It’s important, but it takes over everything, and we just don’t have as much fun,” Stone explained. Parker added, “I don’t know what more we could possibly say about Trump.”
Beyond South Park, Parker and Stone are also working on a secretive live-action film with Kendrick Lamar, set to release in March 2026 through Paramount. Described as “one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read” by the studio’s film chief, Brian Robbins, the project remains under wraps but has generated plenty of buzz.
With South Park finally returning, fans can expect the show’s signature blend of satire, absurdity, and cultural commentary to be in full force once again.
The exciting return of South Park Season 27 premieres on July 9, 2025!
