The Batman Part II Gets a Filming Update as Steven Soderbergh Steps In

Just a few days ago, there was news that filming for The Batman Part II had been temporarily paused because the director of the movie, Matt Reeves, was dealing with a personal matter. But now, reports suggest that filming will resume soon, with director Steven Soderbergh reportedly taking over directing duties for the remaining scenes.

Steven Soderbergh also spoke about the role he is taking on during the final few weeks of principal photography on The Batman Part II. He said, “I thought Matt Reeves’ work on ‘The Batman’ was stunning; it was intentional, specific and rigorously coherent. The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what’s already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film.”

Matt Reeves has also commented on the situation, making it clear that he is not leaving the project. He said, “Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes.”

For now, there have been no changes to the release date, and hopefully, the movie will be released as planned, with Soderbergh filming the remaining scenes and Matt Reeves overseeing the project as a whole.

The Batman: Part II is directed by Matt Reeves, who co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin. It is the sequel to The Batman (2022). Robert Pattinson stars as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and Charles Dance. Set during the winter, the movie follows Batman as he investigates further corruption in Gotham City following the devastating flood.

The Batman: Part II is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 18, 2028.
