Avengers: Doomsday is just 3 months away from us, and it is the most anticipated movie coming after Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It also has one of the biggest casts ever in a superhero movie, which includes most heroes from the Marvel Universe, including the Avengers, the Young Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men as well.
Recently, when Simu Liu was talking to ItzyReviews, he was asked when the sequel to Shang-Chi would be released, and he replied, “I have the same questions. I think soon. First Doomsday, then Secret Wars, and then Shang-Chi 2.”
The last time we saw Shang-Chi was in his own movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. In the post-credits scene, Shang-Chi and Katy are hanging out with friends. Wong arrives through a magic portal and brings them to Kamar-Taj. They talk with hologram versions of Bruce Banner and Captain Marvel about the mysterious origins of the Ten Rings.
Since then, Shang-Chi hasn’t appeared in any post-credits scenes or in any other scenes until now. When the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday was released, one of the most talked-about shots was Shang-Chi fighting Channing Tatum’s Gambit. This could be an interesting fight between them, with Gambit’s cards going up against Shang-Chi’s rings.
Why Marvel’s Shang-Chi 2 Is Taking So Long
Destin Daniel Cretton, who is the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, was busy with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and now he is working on a live-action Naruto movie, which could possibly release in 2028. He is also confirmed to direct the sequel to Brand New Day, so Shang-Chi 2 could possibly have a new director.
Avengers: Doomsday is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters across the United States on December 18, 2026.
