Peter Claffey Reportedly Cast as Beast in Marvel’s X-Men Reboot

The casting of X-Men just made things interesting, as the actor playing Beast has reportedly been cast. According to Knight Edge Media, Peter Claffey, known for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has been cast as Hank McCoy, also known as Beast.

Previously, during the D23 fan event on August 14, 2026, the other cast members of the movie were announced. Now, with Peter Claffey reportedly joining as Beast, the casting seems to be taking shape. Previously, it was reported that Charles Melton was being considered for the role, but because he was also being considered for the role of Kakashi Hatake in the live-action Naruto movie, he eventually had to give up the role of Beast due to scheduling conflicts.

Who is Beast?

Beast is a mutant who is also a brilliant scientist. His body develops blue fur, along with beast-like strength, speed, and agility. Despite his appearance, he uses his intelligence and abilities to help others. Previously, Beast has been played by two actors in the X-Men movies: Nicholas Hoult, who portrayed the younger version of Hank in X-Men: First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix, and Kelsey Grammer, who played the older version in X-Men: The Last Stand and Days of Future Past. Grammer later reprised the role in the mid-credits scene of The Marvels (2023).

But one surprising thing about the new X-Men movie is that Beast will reportedly not undergo the mutation that transforms his skin into blue fur. Instead, he will have a more beast-like appearance while retaining a human look, with huge hands and feet.

Here is the updated cast of the X-Men movie:

  • Kit Connor as Cyclops
  • Sadie Sink as Jean Grey
  • Maya Boyd as Storm
  • Inde Navarrette as Rogue
  • Christopher Abbott as Professor X
  • Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister
  • Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
  • Asa Germann as Angel
  • Peter Claffey as Beast

Directed by Jake Schreier and written by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo, the X-Men movie will focus on “the school, prejudice, and the interpersonal friction between a younger generation of mutants finding their identity in a world that fears them,” rather than jumping straight into world-ending threats.

The X-Men movie will hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
