It was just a couple of months ago that we heard the live-action Naruto movie was finally happening, with the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Destin Daniel Cretton, set to direct the movie. Now, Sony Pictures is joining hands with Lionsgate as an international distribution partner.

With multiple studios bidding for the live-action Naruto movie over the years, Sony will co-finance the film and handle international distribution, while Lionsgate will continue to oversee development and production and handle domestic distribution. Production is currently scheduled to begin in spring 2027.
Currently, there has been only one actor attached to the project: Charles Melton, who will be playing Kakashi Hatake, the elite ninja mentor who guides Naruto and his friends.

But the title character has still not been cast. We will have to wait until we get an official announcement from Lionsgate and Sony about that.
