Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially become a blockbuster by crossing the $1 billion mark at the box office worldwide. It also has a chance of becoming the highest-grossing movie of 2026, and based on box office track record, analysts believe it could even go on to cross the $2 billion milestone.
While the movie is a huge hit, there are some things that MCU fans expected for the movie but never got to see.
What We Got Right
Spider-Man: Brand New Day delivered the grounded, street-level Spider-Man movie. The film focused on Peter Parker’s personal journey, his growth, and his new beginning after the events of , Spider-Man: No Way Home which core Spider-Man fans have been waiting for over the years since Spider-Man was introduced in the MCU. He always had backup from Iron Man and had all the gadgets he could use, but in Brand New Day, it was really a fresh start.
Where Was the Venom Symbiote?
One of the biggest unanswered questions goes all the way back to Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the film’s post-credits scene, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote are transported into the MCU by Doctor Strange’s spell. Before they return to their own universe, they leave behind a tiny piece of the living black symbiote on the bar counter.
There were rumors about the symbiote showing up again, most likely at the post-credits scene of Brand New Day, but instead, there wasn’t even a single scene in the movie, or even an acknowledgment of the symbiote. It could possibly be revealed in Avengers: Secret Wars, as Tom Holland’s Spider-Man may not appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
No Mention of Tony Stark
Well, if you know the history of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Tony is the guy who introduced him in Captain America: Civil War and mentored him through all the events. He was almost a father figure to Peter, and most fans expected a scene at least acknowledging Tony in the movie.
Yes, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is meant to be Peter’s solo journey, as he discovers who he is without relying on anyone else, and that direction works well for the story. But throughout the entire movie, Peter never even mentions Tony once.
That Post-Credits Scene
This is where most people got disappointed and screted their head withiutr understating anything Marvel has built a reputation for post-credit scenes that tease what’s coming next, especially when a movie releases right before a major crossover like Avengers: Doomsday.
Instead, after waiting nearly ten minutes through the credits, audiences saw a Spider-Tracker displaying the message that Spider-Man is no longer on Earth.
The scene has its own theories about fans discovering beasuse there was a glitch in the spidey tracker it could indicate its miles morales or it could be to bey magures or andrew garfirelsds spider man from their respective univeres
The Villains Deserved More
The movie’s primary antagonist is William “Bill” Metzger, the head of the Department of Damage Control (DODC), who is leading the government’s efforts to police superpowered individuals.While the concept works within the story, many fans felt the traditional Spider-Man villains were underused.
Tombstone, in particular, had very little to do and often felt more like a background character than a real threat. Outside of Scorpion, most of the villains barely had enough screen time to make an impact. Instead of feeling like major antagonists, they came across as side quests.
At the same time, the movie devoted significant attention to Sadie Sink’s character, Jean Grey, and the introduction of the X-Men. While that’s understandable in a shared universe like the MCU, things cannot be compromised completely.
