There has finally been an update about the DCU’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold. According to the Twitter page CartierFilms, the movie is set to begin production at the end of 2027. Recently, there were rumors that James Gunn had already started writing his next DC project, and The Brave and the Bold could be the one.

It’s been almost two years since we last saw Batman in the DCU, when he appeared in Episode 6, titled “Priyatel Skelet,” of the animated series Creature Commandos on Max. Batman was also recently mentioned in the Lanterns series. During a diner conversation between Hal Jordan and John Stewart, Hal mentions Guy Gardner and complains that Guy copied “that Bat guy over in Gotham” by building an illuminated beacon in the middle of Rushville so people could summon him.

As we all know, Batman already exists in the DCU, but we haven’t seen him on the big screen yet. The movie doesn’t have a confirmed director at the moment. Andy Muschietti was previously attached to direct the project, but his involvement is now uncertain. If James Gunn is writing the project, there is a possibility that he could also direct the movie.
As for the cast, there has been no official confirmation yet. Several actors have been rumored to play the Dark Knight, including Jensen Ackles, Tom Brittney, and Alan Ritchson, but none of them has been confirmed for the role.
For now, DC has two upcoming theatrical releases to look forward to: Clayface, which is scheduled to release this month, and Superman: Man of Tomorrow, which is currently the only DC movie scheduled to hit theaters next year.
